Boiled Christmas Cake

1/2 lb. butter
2 cups warm water
1 lb. mixed peel or fruit
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups brown sugar
2 lbs. raisins or 1 lb. currants
1 pkg. cherries
1 tsp. allspice
3 tbsp. cocoa

Place above ingredients in a large heavy pot. Bring to boil.
Boil for 5 minutes. Simmer for approximately 15 minutes.
When cool add 3 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp.
baking soda. Bake at 275*F for 2 1/2 - 3 hours.
You can use a large tube pan lined with greased brown
paper.
Truely moist and delicious. This cake will keep for months
wrapped in foil in the fridge.
